Generative AI Policies

Involvement International Journal of Business (IIJB) recognizes the growing role of Generative Artificial Intelligence (Generative AI) and AI-assisted technologies in academic research and scholarly publishing. The journal acknowledges that these technologies can support authors, reviewers, and editors in improving the efficiency, clarity, and quality of scholarly communication. However, the use of Generative AI must be conducted responsibly, transparently, ethically, and in accordance with the principles of academic integrity.

Use of Generative AI by Authors

Authors may use Generative AI tools to assist with limited aspects of manuscript preparation, including language editing, grammar improvement, readability, organization of ideas, and other non-substantive editorial tasks.

Generative AI tools must not be listed as authors or co-authors of any manuscript submitted to the journal. Authorship requires intellectual contribution, responsibility, accountability, and the ability to make scholarly judgments, which can only be assumed by human authors.

Authors remain fully responsible for the originality, accuracy, validity, integrity, and scholarly content of their manuscripts. The use of Generative AI does not transfer responsibility for the manuscript to the AI system or its provider.

Generative AI must not be used to fabricate or manipulate research data, results, citations, references, images, or other scholarly evidence. Authors are responsible for carefully verifying all information, references, quotations, statistical results, and factual claims generated or assisted by AI.

Disclosure of Generative AI Use

Authors must disclose the use of Generative AI when such technology has contributed substantively to the preparation or development of the manuscript.

A disclosure may be included in the Acknowledgements section or another appropriate section of the manuscript. Authors may use the following statement:

Generative AI Disclosure: During the preparation of this manuscript, the authors used Generative AI tools for language editing, grammar improvement, and organization of ideas. The authors reviewed and edited all AI-assisted output and take full responsibility for the final content of the manuscript.

The use of AI tools solely for routine spelling, grammar, formatting, or language correction may not require a separate disclosure unless specifically requested by the editor.

Generative AI and Research Integrity

Authors must ensure that the use of Generative AI does not compromise research integrity, confidentiality, privacy, intellectual property, or ethical standards.

Authors should not upload confidential manuscripts, unpublished research data, personal information, or sensitive materials belonging to third parties into publicly accessible Generative AI systems without appropriate authorization.

AI-generated content must be critically evaluated before being incorporated into a manuscript. Authors should pay particular attention to AI-generated references, citations, quotations, data, and factual statements, as these may contain errors or fabricated information.

Use of Generative AI by Reviewers

Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts under review. Reviewers should not upload or submit unpublished manuscripts, research data, or confidential peer-review materials to Generative AI systems.

Generative AI must not replace the reviewer's independent scholarly judgment. Reviewers remain responsible for the accuracy, fairness, confidentiality, and quality of their peer-review reports.

Use of Generative AI by Editors

Editors may use AI-assisted technologies for limited administrative or editorial purposes where appropriate. However, editorial decisions concerning acceptance, revision, rejection, peer-review selection, ethical assessment, and publication must remain under meaningful human oversight.

Editors are responsible for protecting the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and ensuring that AI-assisted processes do not introduce bias, compromise privacy, or undermine the integrity of the peer-review process.

AI-Generated Images, Data, and Other Materials

The use of Generative AI to create or substantially modify images, tables, datasets, research results, or other scholarly materials must be transparently disclosed where applicable.

AI-generated materials must not be presented as genuine empirical evidence when they are artificially generated. Authors must also ensure that the use of AI-generated materials complies with applicable copyright, licensing, intellectual property, and ethical requirements.

Plagiarism and Academic Misconduct

The use of Generative AI does not exempt authors from the journal's policies concerning plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabrication, falsification, manipulation of data, inappropriate citation, or other forms of academic misconduct.

Manuscripts containing inaccurate, fabricated, misleading, or improperly attributed AI-generated content may be subject to editorial investigation and appropriate action in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies.

Human Accountability

The fundamental principle of this policy is that Generative AI may assist scholarly work, but it cannot assume scholarly responsibility.

All authors, reviewers, and editors remain accountable for their decisions and contributions. The final responsibility for the manuscript, including its originality, accuracy, ethical compliance, citations, research integrity, and intellectual contribution, rests with the human researchers and editorial team.
